Spirit of Holi-V (Fun with Colors)

In the words of the photographer: "Holi means fun...fun with colors...when you would love to get painted by friends. And as you know, fun has no limits...as you can see...friends attacking a poor soul to paint his most private parts...while others seem to just enjoy!!!!"

Now that's interesting !!! :D

It has been long since I posted here. When I came back to flickr, this shot caught my eyes. The composition is impressive. Directionality of the grass leaves is complimented by the man. The colors are soothing to the eyes as well. A pleasant shot. :)

Nice range of tones and the sky gives an appropriate blending background to this monument.

View from the International Space Station

Yes ? Are you sure ?

Well, this is a nice example where a particular angle of camera can create wonderful illusion !

Here is what the photographer says about it: "Yes you're right Andy, it's the Louvre pyramid. I used a polariser, but I also deepened the shadows and played around with the white balance to make it look more like a satellite's view of the earth."

Very nicely done ! :)

Chutney before the grind !

Sometimes simple objects can do wonder when seen through the camera. Of course the color saturation has been pushed up here. But that is the case with every fashion and ad photographs now.

I like the treatment and it brings out the elegance out of simplicity. Very eye candy ! :)

This guy has mastered Photoshop very quickly and creates very enchanting moments through this monster software ! I wish I had learned so well, at least for my touch ups. :(

Attached a tripod (closed) to my skateboard via the use of a metal splint which was taped at both ends either side of the board. I then set it to self-timer and [carefully] did some toe-side kickturns on the smoothest part of the road I could find.

Shutter speed was faster than you might imagine - I had a ND filter attached to a Sony F717.

There's no Photoshop blur involved as I'm a bit of a purist!"

Can you imagine ?! :O

But composition like this calls for 'photographic eye'.

I'd suggest you bookmark her portfolio at flickr and get amazed by her work at a regular basis. I'm doing that currently. :)

The extent of post-processing is very apparent no doubt and HDR (High Dynamic Range) photos are generally a bit unnatural. But it looks good and very attractive! Only I feel the horizon could have been pushed a little up .... a personal choice. :)
